ArcSDE System Tables or the Repository tables hold the key for all Geodatabase functionality and maintain information about the feature classes and feature datasets.These tables are all part of the admintrative User's schema. There are two sets of system tables. The ArcSDE data dictionary combines both the ArcSDE system tables, created by the giomgr process upon initial startup, and the geodatabase system tables, created with the gdbs executable.

The tables and views are created and maintained by ArcSDE. They are not designed for use by external programs. Changing the data within the ArcSDE data dictionary either by an external program or manually is not supported and can potentially corrupt the Geodatabase.
