The purpose of a wiki.gis.com discussion tab is to provide space for editors to discuss changes to its associated article or project page. Article talk pages should not be used by editors as platforms for their personal views on a subject, but for evaluating the use of information derived from secondary sources.

When writing on a discussion tab page, certain approaches are counter-productive, while others facilitate good editing. The prime values of the discussion tab page are communication, courtesy and consideration.
