ISO JTC1 (TC122) SC31 WG5 is a new working group of the ISO on the topic of mobile item identification and management (MIIM). This standardization working group faces the widening of both radio-frequency identification and real time locating systems with the increasing variety of approaches based on IEEE 802.15.4a communications platform standard. The solutions address either common ZigBee UWB or Nanotron's CSS UWB.

The standardization activity is targeting the move from fixed RFID readers to mobile applications with RFID, RFID, 3rd Generation Partnership Project ^[1].
