Proportional Symbols

Proportional symbols are map symbols that vary in size to show their quantitative values.
Proportional symbols are used to compare actual values, in contrast to graduated symbols, which are used to compare relative values.
In the map below, dot symbols of varying size show values of a given attribute for each polygon.
